I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes and put on Metformin on June 26th, 2019. I started some diabetes diet and followed it 100% for a few weeks and could not get my blood sugar to go below 140. Finally i began to panic and called my doctor, he told me to get used to it. He said I would be on metformin my whole life and eventually insulin. At that point i knew something wasn’t right and began to do a lot of research. Then I found a diabetes website http://www.wellhealthplans.com/diabetestreatmentvideo I read that article from end to end because everything the writer was saying made absolute sense. I started the diet that day and the next morning my blood sugar was down to 100 and now i have a fasting blood sugar between Mid 70’s and the 80’s. My doctor took me off the metformin after just three week of being on this lifestyle change. I have lost over 30 pounds and 6+ inches around my waist in a month. The truth is we can get off the drugs and help myself by trying natural methods

Bonnie McCulloch I’m a grey area person as well. T1 for 15 years. I have my days but mostly I’m good. I teach yoga, I’m very active and a mom of a 18 year old son. I definitely need to clean up my eating and get my A1c down but I have always been a very positive person. Don’t get me wrong I have moments of being completely pissed that I have diabetes but I allow myself time to be angry but I make sure I don’t stay in that place. I think we need to allow ourselves the time to feel the feels as they say. I very much enjoy your posts and you have an amazing way with words. ??

Brian Donovan Nice post. Almost 40 years in with T1D myself and doing “well”. A T1D daughter like myself a decade into her journey. Something that has helped me is understanding more about the 42 named drivers of blood sugar levels by Adam Brown of the diaTribe. He also wrote a book Bright Spots & Land Mines where he shares a lot of what works for how many carbs does a diabetic need per meal foods to eat with type 2 diabetes list him and what doesn’t and takes the reader on a thought process of repeating what works and avoiding what doesn’t (simple right!?). Best of luck continuing the grind and working to stay positive while doing so – it’s the only way!

Mike Mella Diabetics are most the time misunderstood. Being around positive thinkers instead of whiners really helped me. It was a big thing for me to see other diabetics doing something to help themselves. Which is why i like this group, Diabetes Strong Community. I love seeing people exercising, sharing recipes, diabetic meal plans with recipes doing everything to stay healthy instead of complaining. Hang in there. You’re not alone. ??
