I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes and put on Metformin on June 26th, 2019. I started some diabetes diet and followed it 100% for a few weeks and could not get my blood sugar to go below 140. Finally i began to panic and called my doctor, he told me to get used to it. He said I would be on metformin my whole life and eventually insulin. At that point i knew something wasn’t right and began to do a lot of research. Then I found a diabetes website http://www.wellhealthplans.com/diabetestreatmentvideo I read that article from end to end because everything the writer was saying made absolute sense. I started the diet that day and the next morning my blood sugar was down to 100 and now i have a fasting blood sugar between Mid 70’s and the 80’s. My doctor took me off the metformin after just three week of being on this lifestyle change. I have lost over 30 pounds and 6+ inches around my waist in a month. The truth is we can get off the drugs and help myself by trying natural methods

enough of an issues a doctor is suggesting surgery, even with fasting, you will probably need to change what you are eating in window that you do. I have a hisory of binge eati
ng and its frightening how fast i can put away a bag of chips on an emotional binge or if you eat too many calorie dense foods in that window.
Fasting can be a very helpful tool but you also need to focus on your foods that diabetics can eat freely nutrition. I don’t know how you are currently eating so i don’t want to lecture you. Your A1c is great so that is a positive.
I fasted for a colonoscopy-2 1/2 days due to a mix up. Lived off Gatorade Zero the whole time-never crashed. Bs lowered and lost 3 pounds. ??
I’m T2 so I’m cautious to advise a T1. I do 16 hour fasting 3 days a week and 24 hour 2 days. I like the feeling of not being full. I’ve dropped 20 lbs that I wasn’t able just by exercise and low carb diet. I like it.
My PCP recommended gastric bypass and more insulin for me two years ago… endo said ok to low carb and foods avoid if you have diabetes IF… I went keto and not only dropped 70# but lowered insulin from 100+ units to ~30 TDD, eliminated thyroid meds, lowered A1c from double digits t
o 6.3 I fast at least 16 hours a day now. I started by eating only low carb (only carbs are non-starchy foods that diabetics can eat freely veggies) and protein, only when hungry and trying to push myself a little longer each day. Took about a week to get to 16 hours.
I know a couple people who had that operation done. One of them had to have a liver transplant. Ans she is awfully unhealthy. Another one has trouble with keeping her blood pressure up. Unless you absolutely have to have it please don’t.
I natural do what is now considered “Intermittent fasting”. Breakfast and I do not get along well….so I. just don’t eat it. Just some coffee in the morning. (Tried eating diet plan for weight loss with diabetes a small breakfast when first diagnosed, decided I really do not like what eatin
g in the morning does to my stomach.) Then I just eat at regular times the rest of the day. So I end up “fasting” from 9:30 PM (most of the time) to about 12:30 PM . It works by reducing the amount of food you take in and therefore foods that diabetics can eat freely calories. If you just cram he same calories into a shorter window you could actually gain weight. Your Endo can tell you how to adjust insulin and meds if you want to give it a try. Low Carb Hi Fiber is a good diet to try if you want to try and avoid surgery. LCHF is NOT the same as Keto.
Do not have surgery if you are an emotional eater. Will not work

I work a full time job have 3 side jobs( all which are physically active), another side hustle, go to school full time online and get up and workout at 6 am everyday. You just have to make it happen
that’s awesome! Do you wear a pump so your insulin is always on you or no.. I’m not on a pump
